AI Legal Assistant – "Juristen" by Fylgia
We are excited to announce that our AI assistant is now available on the GPT Store. This tool offers quick and professional help with legal questions, available anytime.
Fylgia’s assistant, "Juristen," is tailored for companies and organizations and is accessible to anyone with a ChatGPT Plus account. Users can ask questions in everyday Swedish, just like with ChatGPT, but Juristen is specifically designed to assist with business law queries. The assistant is connected to the internet and has access to current laws, case law, and other relevant documents.
– This isn’t about legal advice, but more about providing a general overview of how various regulations work and what legal issues you might need to be aware of, potentially requiring the services of a lawyer, explains Mikael Ericson, lawyer and partner at Fylgia, who trained the tool.
– We’ve programmed how we want the assistant to function. For instance, it is more cautious than regular ChatGPT when providing answers.
Fylgia has also started developing GPT tools for internal use. For example, they are now using a GPT specialized in proofreading documents and reviewing the logic of arguments.
– Our lawyers have begun working with these tools actively and are even learning how to build their own GPTs as needed.
– 'Juristen' is just the first version, a test run. The goal isn’t necessarily to focus on what this particular project will achieve, but rather to learn how to navigate this new landscape.
How technically proficient do lawyers need to be to work with and develop legal assistants?
– We don’t need to learn coding. It’s enough to describe how we want the tools to behave in plain Swedish. The key is learning how to frame the descriptions, and you learn by trial and error.
How is AI affecting the legal profession?
– A significant portion of a lawyer’s work is based on experience, something AI can’t replace. The need for junior lawyers won’t disappear, but routine tasks will eventually be automated, Ericson says.
